As always, cogent and heartfelt from Douglas. Many thanks, and I am all in with you, DB. My wife and I have made a large donation to the campaign (for us!), and we will both work to support the campaign as it arrives here on our island in Maine. But we are also choosing to boundary much of the media on politics. We try to live by the notion of not to worry about the things we cannot control. Another way of putting it is that we try to put our energy where we have agency. The caution here is to limits one's exposure to the media's manipulation of the sympathetic nervous system while still being informed enough to understand the forces at play so that one can contribute thoughtfully to the democratic process. As usual, this means finding that place between too much and too little (sorry, long time asana teacher here).
"The choice is now between a 78-year-old habitual liar whose life offers records of shame and failure and a 59-year-old woman who has served honorably as an effective attorney general of the country's most populous State, a senator, and now vice president of the United States. The contrast could not be clearer." thank you always
You summed up everything and more. When I turned on NPR at noon yesterday, I was both relieved and energized. I had goosebumps for at least 30 minutes. There are many in my circle who have given up or were in denial. Having a chance feels like a gamble. I would rather gamble and play, take a chance. And I’m afraid of the hate, misogyny and racism that will be used in the dice game.
Many thanks, Douglas, for your always "cogent and heartfelt" comments as Richard states. I so admire your thoughtfullness and appreciate the pain this has brought you. Richard sums up our thoughts in Canada as well with grave concerns and trying to limit the exposure to the poison of the media which would reduce all hope. Thanks to both of you for what you ard doing in America and we in Canada keep you in our prayers.
Douglas, thanks as well for an amazing summer camp. So worth my time!

A choice between a convicted felon and an experienced prosecutor...
Thank you Dr. Brooks,
You summed up everything and more. When I turned on NPR at noon yesterday, I was both relieved and energized. I had goosebumps for at least 30 minutes. There are many in my circle who have given up or were in denial. Having a chance feels like a gamble. I would rather gamble and play, take a chance. Thank you for your courageous writing.
